It all started 40 years ago when Dutchman Kees Huysmans visited Tregroes and never went home. He fell in love with the Teifi Valley, learning to speak Welsh and turned his ‘stroop waffle’ craftsmanship into a successful local business.
The tiny village of Tregroes (tree:groyce), meaning ‘settlement of the cross,’ is a fitting name for more than 40 years of artisan waffle production. A familiar pattern etched within our rural landscape.
